Linda D'Elia started painting in 2003 after a close friend encouraged her. Linda's friend advised, "It's about the process, not about the product". How right she was. Interested in Art from a young age, Linda's artistic efforts were set aside for many years in favor of a more practical career which paid the bills. When faced with a major life change in 2003, Linda set out to explore painting, and she found it therapeutic and engrossing. Toward learning more about her craft, the artist has studied painting and drawing with Phillip Wade, Eve Larson, and Katherine Uitz, all generous and gifted teachers and artists in the Austin area. Her first Art teacher, her mother, also paints in oils and provides critiques. Linda paints in her home studio in Round Rock while still engaged in a full-time job. Linda is very interested in telling stories with her work. She chooses subjects with strong colors and compelling images. Her first series was based on photos that her brother, Rick D'Elia, a photojournalist, took while working in Africa. The next series was based on various photos of interesting doors around the world. Currently she is working on a series of memorable events in a family's lives; a daughter's first car, an eagerly awaited girl child, a father's return from a tour of Iraq.
