Pat Hillcoat Pat was born and educated in Montreal, Quebec. Drawing was always a hobby and after high school this love prompted her to study at "Studio 5316" with a goal of becoming a Commercial Artist. But as life dictates, a job opportunity in technology led her in a different direction and art was put aside for the time being. In later years, under the tutelage of Gerry at the VanDyke Art Studio, Pat both studied and taught oil painting. Occasional success and encouragement given by many teachers over the years fed her passion to create and grow both in style and medium. Pat has participated in both juried and non-juried shows in Montreal, Belleville, Toronto and Texas. Stimulated by the landscapes of northern Muskoka, and the Texas hill country where she lives(summer and winter), Pat continues to explore her love, working in both watercolor and acrylic. "I started out as an oil painter, moved to watercolor with much suffering and most recently have transitioned to acrylics. I love the new found freedom and look forward to growing and expanding my skills with this wonderful, medium - pour it, use a knife, paint it, whatever you like - the wonderful colors prevail". Pat's goal is to provide an interpretive impression of realistic images. Using a conceptual approach she translates her personal perspective of basic elements found in nature into something that is both real and illusive. Pat is a director and webmaster for HAS (Huntsville Art Society), a member of MAC (Arts Council of Muskoka) in Huntsville, Ontario and a member of the Sun City Visual Arts Club, and Williamson County Art Guild in Georgetown, Texas.
