Mary Beth has been creating as long as she can remember. She has experience as a painter, sculptor, photographer and an art educator and has a BFA degree from LSU (1974). The love of capturing the true essence of God's creation has brought her into painting commissioned portraits of people, pets and animals. Mary Beth just began using soft pastels in April 2007 and they are fast becoming her favorite medium, although she still loves clay sculpting and mixed media.

Mary Beth is the current President (2009-2010) of the Williamson County Art Guild. She is also a member of The Central Texas Pastel Society, and The Austin Pastel Society.

Mary Beth Martin was born in Chicago, raised in Indiana and Baton Rouge. She has enjoyed a lengthy career as a teacher from pre-school to high school and is currently an elementary art teacher at Summit Christian Academy's Leander campus.

 

 

 

Mary Beth has distinguished herself in a variety of fields. She is well known and regarded as a professional clown having served as president of the World Clown Association in 1992-1993. She Clowned at the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll in 1992, and was a T.V. regular for four years on one of the longest running kids show in the nation - Buckskin and Friends. She continues to clown on mission trips around the world and for her church and school.

She continues her studies taking many pastel workshops and currently is enjoying notoriety as a professional artist. She has had many award winning paintings. Mary Beth's art is frequently shown at different places around the Austin and Georgetown areas.

Mary Beth's Artist Statement:
God is my inspiration. My excitement in His creation is what drives me to paint. In everything I paint and do, I give God the glory!
