The Photographer Bob Phillips is a retired educator who lives in Georgetown, Texas, with his wife Elaine. In his early career, he worked with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Japan, England, and Germany which precipitated a life-long love of travel and photography. Since returning to the US in 1984, he has continued to pursue both, especially in the southwest United States and Turkey. A Moment of Experience For me, photography has always been an extension of my travels and of my curiosity. Unlike the artistry of many landscape and commercial photographers, time has not always allowed me to seek perfect conditions, take repeated exposures, or make numerous adjustments to the configuration and settings of my equipment. As a result, my photographs are not so much artifacts, but rather attempts to record a brief moment of my own experience. The angle, hour, lighting, and weather don't always cooperate. It was serendipity that the composition, color, emotion, and subject matter of some of the thousands of photographs I have taken successfully captured the moment as I remember having lived it. Luckily, some of those are also beautiful images in and of themselves. Most of my more recent work has been done using a digital camera.
