Getting your own Personal Profile Page

If you're a member of the WCAG, here are the 3 steps (and some helpful hints) to getting your own Personal Profile page on the Guild's website.

Prepare your script.
It will expedite things if your script is in plain text. Notepad will work or you may also use Wordpad, or even MS Word, but I'd prefer you save your script as a text file. Use your last name and first initial as the filename, as in "mylastnamex.txt" (Please note: file name is in lowercase.)
What to prepare?
What would you like others to know about you and your art? If you're having trouble getting started, look at the Personal Profiles of other members to get some ideas. Provide whatever contact information you are comfortable giving. If you want your email address included on your portfolio page, please include it in your script file so I'll know that's what you want. Otherwise, the only contact info that will be provided is the info for contacting you through the Guild.
If you have your own website, and would like a link to be provided to your site (why wouldn't you?) remember to include the address of your site.
Proofread your script for typos!

Gather pictures of your art. You may send up to six images of your work for this portfolio page.
  • Acceptable formats for your images are either JPEG or GIF. No other formats will be used and JPEG's are preferred. If these terms are unfamiliar to you, find a friend to guide you.
  • The filenames of your images should be 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc. so that I'll know in what order you wish them to appear on your profile page. (Please note: file name is in lowercase.)
  • Because six images per member has a potential for over 1,000 images .... please keep the filesize under 100 kilobytes per image.
  • If you don't have an image editor to resize your images, go to http://www.fotosizer.com and download Fotosizer for FREE. It's easy to use and fast.
  • In the text file for your script, for each image that you send, list its number (1-6), the title of the work, size and media.
  • Don't bother to send pricing information for original works of art because advertising a work for sale after it's sold will make your page out of date. Please use your own website for marketing your work. However, in the case of prints that can be reproduced at any time, prices will be accepted.
  • For each of the images that you are going to send, create a thumbnail image. This is done by simply resizing the images again. Pick a number between 100 and 150 and specify that number as the width of each thumbnail you are creating. (Allow the height of these images to self-adjust.) Save (or rename) the thumbnail images with filenames tn1.jpg, tn2.jpg, etc. (Please note: file name is in lowercase.)
  • Beyond your six images you may also include a photo of yourself, if you choose. Please send it with the filename theartist.jpg. (Please note: file name is in lowercase.)

How to submit it

  • If each of your image files is under 100 kilobytes, you may attach your script file and image files to an email and send it to me with the email subject line as "WCAG Artist Profile". Send it directly to me, do NOT send it to the Guild's mail box. For Kirk Witmer's email address click on "Contact the Webmaster" in the lower right corner of this window.
  • If you are unable to reduce the filesize of your images, please put your files on a CD or even a 3.5" floppy disc and either bring it to me at a monthly meeting or mail it to me. Kirk's mailing address is available in the WCAG Membership Directory, or by request through email.
  • Above all, remember ... please do not send me .PDF files!
