Artist Statement
“I try to capture the beauty in objects and in nature that I find interesting and convey that beauty to others through my art. Often, a sense of nostalgia permeates my work; most likely because I grew up in such a historic town and developed a longing for simpler times of the past. We cannot separate ourselves from our art; who we are - our spirit- shows up in our creations, from the youngest of artists to the oldest.”
Cindy was born in Springfield, Illinois and earned her BA in Art Education from Southern Illinois University. She taught art in the public school system in both Illinois and Texas for many years before obtaining a degree in graphic arts. She also enjoys teaching portraiture to adults in her
studio at home. Her work has been exhibited in juried competitions and galleries in Illinois, Texas and Missouri & a one-woman show in Bell County, Texas. Her watercolor “Holiday Tea” won first place in the Garrett Gallery International Competition in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the recipient of two purchase awards from the Teacher’s Retirement System. Portrait and corporate commissions are welcomed.
