Artist's Biography
"Wanderlust" is a word often used to describe artist Kristine Scharf Kainer. Born in Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, Kristine led the lifestyle of a typical military dependent. Her father, an officer in the United States Marine Corps, was transferred frequently throughout the East Coast. As a result, Kristine was exposed to a variety of cultural activities and the inherent beauty of each locale in which she and her family lived.
The family eventually settled in the Washington, D.C. area where Kristine graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a B.A. degree in Art History and a Master's of Education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Though she dabbled in art (graphite and charcoal) for relaxation, she never considered using her talents professionally.
Eventually, Kristine's wanderlust returned. After visiting Central Texas, she was entranced by the natural beauty of the area. In 2003, she and her family moved to the Kainer family homestead in rural Schulenburg. It was there that Kristine realized the significance of art in her life. With the support of her family, Kristine changed careers and is now a full-time artist and art instructor, specializing in oils, acrylics, charcoal, and watercolors.
Today, Kristine and her family have homes in both Georgetown and Schulenburg. With the best of both worlds, perhaps her wanderlust is finally satiated….
